So I’ve been absent from my website for nearly a year now but it’s not because I haven’t been busy or because I didn’t want to post. For those who know me, my father’s health and passing were a big focus for me over the past 12 months but couple that with a house move, executor duties, a broken elbow and a few other things sprinkled in there among the regular life duties that we all have and I found myself wanting to use my downtime for other pursuits.
While my original purpose was to use this website to capture my outdoor trips and events I attended, I decided I am going expand what I use it for by including my experiences both from a professional and personal development point of view. I will also include family outings as well since I suck at using paper to document that kind of thing (photo albums? What’s that?). I’ve changed a number of things on the web server side that most of you won’t notice (or care about) but it has kept me busy for the past month and a bit. I guess the most noticeable thing is that, for the time being, I won’t be pushing out emails to notify my subscribers about new content. New posts will be shared to social networks and I’m contemplating pulling in my Instagram feed to the site as I find myself using that more often these days. I may go back to a mailer type service in the future but I’m still mulling that one over. I’m also in the process of changing the look and feel of the site because web design is ever evolving and I like to keep up to date with the trends so my apologies if some of my old articles look a little odd (migration of old content is low on the list at the moment). I’ve also started investing a bit more time and money into my photography so I expect to get some content/photos up regarding that. Lots of stuff planned for the next year, which includes me finishing my Europe series, but for now I’m just glad to be back.
